This is the renewal comparison point. The three PPO options are shown below.

01 / Your budget

How much stays with you?

Quoted premiumSavings vs renewalEach bar = your full renewal premium budget

These prices are for both of you. The savings compare each option with your current 2027 renewals, including Alex's UnitedHealthcare supplement. What you spend on care will depend on the plan you choose and the care you use. We'll review the final price and start date together.

Here's what the summaries show for covered care in the network. All three include preventive care at no charge and let you see specialists without a referral. Diamond has a $0 deductible, with copays and coinsurance for other care. We'll go over the final 2027 benefits together.

Move the slider to compare a year of premiums for both of you plus one person's share of a covered in-network hospital bill. This example starts with a fresh deductible and uses the individual limits in the summaries. Other care, noncovered charges, balance bills, penalties and fees would be separate. Your current plans aren't shown here because we haven't compared their hospital benefits. Use this as a guide to the tradeoffs, rather than a prediction of an actual bill.

04 / Make the HSA work for you

What could an HSA add to your savings?

The money you put into your HSA stays yours to use for eligible expenses. The savings shown here combine the lower premium with your estimated federal tax savings. Medical costs and any tax deduction for premiums are separate.

How this HSA example works
For 2027, an eligible person with family HSA-qualified coverage can contribute up to $9,000. At 58, Diane qualifies for the extra $1,000 age-based catch-up, bringing this example's limit to $10,000. This example assumes you're eligible all year and no employer or other contributions have used part of your limit. Medicare, other coverage, or enrolling for only part of the year can change how much you can contribute. We'll check your eligibility and the plan's HSA qualification before you fund the account.

The tax estimate multiplies your contribution by the federal rate you choose. Your actual tax savings will depend on your return; state, payroll and self-employment taxes aren't included. You can use HSA funds tax-free for qualified medical expenses. We'll also check whether Alex meets the tax-dependent rules for paying his expenses from your HSA. WHAT I'LL CHECK FOR YOU

06 / I'll take it from here

Let's start with a quick
health questionnaire.

Diane, complete the short questionnaire when you have a chance. I'll take a look, and then we can walk through the options together.

The full benefit summaries, all in one place
Before we make a change
These summaries are a helpful starting point. The figures above follow their main benefit schedules; the HSA sample bills use different figures, so we'll use the final 2027 benefits when we make your decision. I'll review those with you, along with your HSA eligibility and the coverage start date.
A little more about using your coverage Care away from home and everyday tips
Getting care away from home

For Alex, having Cigna PPO providers available beyond Florida could make care easier while he's at Baylor or traveling for golf. We'll look up the doctors and hospitals you'd both want to use.

Alex already has the UnitedHealthcare Health ProtectorGuard Premier 5000 supplement for his time in Texas and travel. It pays set amounts for covered events. Its $136.53 monthly premium is included in your current total above.

A few ways to make your coverage work harder
01

Start with the network.

Check the doctor and facility before a planned visit, including any separate lab or imaging provider.

02

Know the visit cost.

Some visits have a set copay; other services go toward your deductible first. Click through the benefits above to see how each option works.

03

Plan ahead for prescriptions.

We'll look up your medications and check the cost and any approvals needed before you fill them.

Specific limits worth knowing
Specialty drug rules differ: HSA lists an exclusion at a gross cost of $700 unless approved through managed care; Silver lists a $200 copay with PBM advocacy program requirements and unclear $700 wording; Diamond lists 30% coinsurance and a $700 gross cost limit per month. We'll check your actual medications. All three summaries list $500 penalties for certain services without required pre-certification and a combined 35-visit annual rehabilitation and habilitation limit. Premiums, balance bills, penalties and noncovered care are outside the listed out-of-pocket limits. Some out-of-network terms are incomplete or inconsistently labeled in the summaries, so those need to be checked before relying on them.
Let's see which options are available to you
We'll start with the personal health questionnaire. These plans review health history before approval, and I'll help you with the work requirements and Alex's eligibility too. Your consulting work may be a good starting point. If an EIN is needed, we'll review it along with the other business details.
